The Birch Aquarium is the public exploration center for the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at University California at San Diego. The Aquarium offers a full spectrum of sea life exhibits, gallery exhibits, annual expeditions to the Amazon, and interpretive dives where divers discuss the health and beauty of San Diego's ocean ecosystem. There are extensive educational outreach programs, teacher workshops, the National Ocean Sciences Bowl, and the Wyland Ocean Challenge. Online resources include Science Spotlight pages, Creature Feature education pages, and interactive games such as Seahorse Anatomy, Seahorse Environment, and Kelp Kitchen. The Perspectives on Ocean Science lecture series explores many of the research endeavors of the Scripps Institute, with many of the lectures available for free download in video form from the website.
