The California Academy of Science houses the Natural History Museum, the Steinhart Aquarium and the Morrison Planetarium. The Natural History Museum features many traveling exhibits, with past exhibits archived on the website, as well as a permanent Naturalist Center where visitors can view and touch almost anything in the collections cabinets, from human skulls, real Native American artifacts, minerals, fossils and more. Educator Resource Materials Junior kits are available for purchase from the Museum and feature specimens, books, learning activities, and a detailed teacher guide, outlining animals and plants commonly found in the San Francisco Bay Area. The lecture series highlights, among other topics, paleontology and geology, and an accredited high school internship program is offered to students age 15 17 years to provide real research experience and to help students set goals for educational and career paths.
