The Discovery Centers Museum Without Walls has fulfilled the educational mission of the Discovery Center since 1996. Educational programming is given offsite, and includes Family Science night for school children and their parents, StarLab portable planetarium, and Science Theatre, bringing the wonders of science to the live stage through the use of music, improvisation, and audience involvement. The Reading Awakens Young Scientists, or RAYS program, brings science alive through the pages of high quality literature, followed by a hands-on science lesson designed to reinforce a scientific concept from the story. The curriculum is consistent with recognized criteria and uses National Science Foundation standards, Benchmarks for Science Literacy, and California Science Content standards. The Discovery Zone is an online, kid-friendly site for exploring topics concerning energy and the environment, how things work, space exploration, communication, health and biotechnology, and also contains links to other appropriate websites.
