The Imaginarium, Alaska's only hands-on Science Discovery Center, is designed as a place where people can have fun learning about science by actually doing science. The Imaginarium resembles a living laboratory where you can stand inside a bubble, ponder the magnitude of the universe in a planetarium, discover ocean life in a marine touch tank, observe and touch exotic reptiles, or learn the principles of physics while playing with specialized toys. Designed to change children's attitudes about science by letting them ask the questions and look for their own answers, the Center provides educational outreach to rural communities, national traveling exhibits, teacher resources and daily live demonstrations. The website provides extensive information about in-house exhibits, including T. rex, Alaskan Salmon, Insects, and Physics and Flight. Also available from the Center is AWASH, the Alaska Fisheries Curriculum.
