Turtle Bay Exploration Park is a 300-acre campus filled with educational and entertaining activities all focused on the interpretation of the relationship between humans and nature. The Turtle Bay Museum permanent exhibits feature a mix of interpretative material, multimedia exhibits, science experiments, self-guided exploration, and play features. Paul Bunyan’s Forest Camp is a replica of a forest with woodsy play equipment and a working model of the Sacramento River, plus timber and ecology exhibits and a trail that simulates a journey across Northern California's forests. The McConnell Arboretum comprises 20 acres of Mediterranean climate display gardens, a children's garden, a medicinal garden, and two unique water features. Education for groups includes independent exploration, docent guided tours, and GEMS - Great Explorations in Math and Science, which is an inquiry-based, standards-supported approach to learning developed by the Lawrence Hall of Science at University California at Berkeley.
